Updates from California and Nebraska

Updates from California and Nebraska

California has announced that it will be releasing an online licensing system for genetic counselors. GCs will be able to apply for a new license, renew an existing license, and get license verifications online. They expect the system to launch in late Spring, 2020.

In other news, Nebraska is now waiving their new license application fee entirely for certain GC applicants. If you are under 26 years old, have an income below their cut-off, or if you or your spouse are in the military, you can keep an extra $150 in your pocket! The background check fee still applies. This change became effective January 1st, 2020. For more info, visit Nebraska’s website here.

We hope to see more welcome changes like this in other states!
